GEORGE NAKASHIMA LATE 1950s "USA" TABLE George Nakashima (Japanese, 1905-1990) master woodworker and craftsman, late 1950s coffee table with three peg style legs. Due to the shape, the consignor's family affectionately referred to this table as the "USA" table. Includes letter of authenticity from Nakashima Woodworking.
Provenance: Consigned by the daughter of Shirley and Milton Sapir of Bloomfield NJ. Shirley and Milton frequented George Nakashima’s Bucks County Studio and purchased this table at the studio in 1959. The table was inherited by our consignor and has been with the Sapir family since the time of purchase. This table was purchased at the same time as lot 69303 of this sale. Nakashima Woodworking was able to provide the purchase receipt card for lot 69303, although was not able to locate the original purchase receipt card for this lot in their records. Nakashima Woodworking has provided a letter of authenticity in place of the receipt card. The letter will accompany the table.

Some marks to surface of table. The light color “L” shaped mark to the top of the table appears to be a result of a water mark. Structurally the table is tight, solid and in very good condition.
