Grosjean & Woodward Coin Silver Water Pitcher. Excellent coin silver pitcher, c. 1850, made by Grosjean & Woodward and retailed by Lincoln & Foss. Has a hand chased and repousse design with acanthus leaves hanging from the top rim, stylized seashell spout, the body has a hammered texture with a textured background pattern and an array of small circles wrapped around the body with ivy leaves, vines and flowers; a raised foot rim and excellent serpentine handle. Signed on the bottom with maker’s mark “W & G.” for Woodward & Grosjean, Boston (1840-1850), retailer’s mark of Lincoln & Foss, Boston (1847-1858) and “Pure Coin” mark. Very fine quality and crisp detail, in excellent condition, smooth polished escutcheon on the front is not monogrammed. 9.75 in. high x 8.5 in. wide x 7 in. dia. 33.3 oz.
