Plates
molded in Rococo shape with pierced rim, printed and painted with assymmetrical sprays of various flowers, heavily gilded rim, signed with crowned Doulton/Burslem backstamp in brown, stamped in black "Doulton & Slater's/Patent", each further marked with pattern number "C2575" and painter's initials, 10 in. slight wear to gilding, one plate with chip on rim point, repainted. Notes: John Slater (1844 - 1914) was the Art Director at Doulton & Co. Burslem from 1887 until his death in 1914. He was involved in the development of many special glazes and a number of patents relating to ceramics. Some works are marked "Doulton & Slaters Patent," a process which involves the use of lace fabrics impressed into the surface of clay as a decorative technique..
