Description
Hampshire Pottery vases covered in matte green glaze. Each measure 10" and 9.5". Incised “Hampshire” and both having the Emoretta mark on the bottom. Very good original condition. Made in Keene, New Hampshire, between 1871 and 1923. Hampshire developed a line of colored glazed wares as early as 1883. Grueby Faience Company is often credited with developing the popular matte green glaze in 1887, Hampshire was actually the first to produce it in 1883. Designed by Cadmon Robertson, his artist mark (M in a circle which is tribute to his wife, Emoretta) circa 1904
