South America, Bolivia, ca. 19th century CE. Wonderful silver crown intended for a Santo or Madonna. Exquisitely formed from filigreed .925 silver, a style that was embraced in colonial South America in the 18th and 19th centuries, and was referred to as silver lace. The inside appendages are not soldered, but fit into a "joiner." Beautiful reminder of the exquisite silverwork of Colonial South America - a wonderful devotional item for any collection of religious art. Size: 3-3/4"H; interior base opening 1-7/8".
