France, Mousterian Period, most likely from the hand of a Neanderthal Man, ca. 40,000 BCE. Gorgeous hand axe in creamy flint or chert. Liberally knapped on each side with sharpened frontal edge and a wonderful deep patina. Feels so nice in your hand! Size: 3-5/8"L.
