Collection of handmade posters used in political demonstrations against Imperialism, different formats, comprising a poster reading "U.S. Out of Grenada. Defeat U.S. Imperialism" and featuring an eagle with claws gripping a map of Grenada, stapled thrice on top edge with strip of masking tape on the lower edge to a sheet of card, creased and rippled with nicks and tears , [ Bay Area], Fireworks, c. 1938; laminated placards reading "Free Leonard Peltier! Sovereignty for Native Nations", red handpainted titles, illustration and captions in black, eyeholes to lower and upper edges, [San Francisco], [Women Against Imperialism], c. 1980s; poster on stiff red paper featuring an black and green portrait of BLA activist Assata Shakur, gold titles reading "Assata Shakur Is Welcome Here", staple holes, upper right corner chipped, wear, various sizes , [San Francisco], [Women Against Imperialism], c. 1980s. (3) Women Against Imperialism was a short-lived feminist, anti-imperialist solidarity organization formed in San Francisco in 1981. The group was committed to political education activities including support for female political prisoners, victims of the sex trade and trafficking, international solidarity and militarism. American street props are particularly rare on the market, since they were used and discarded in the main and replaced with new slogans as the political issues of the day changed.
