HISTORIC LAP DESK - Brass Bound English Rosewood Lap Desk with inlaid oval patera featuring a marlin, plum velvet writing surface with impression of signature on wooden frame "W.H.B. Long". 4" x 14" x 9". Good condition. Captain W.H.B. Long, one of the Queen's Own Foot Guards, the Royal Dublin Horse, was by 1900 serving as ADC to Lord Cadogan, Governor General of Ireland. He was also a champion polo player and motor car enthusiast.
