(Alfred Bernhard, Swedish chemist, engineer and armaments manufacturer, inventor of dynamite, posthumous creator of the Nobel prizes, 1833-96) Collection of objects and books relating to the Nobel prize, Nobel's business and nitroglycerin, mostly from the company, Nitroglycerin Aktiebolaget, and the collection of Sigurd Nauckhoff ( Swedish engineer and director of several related nitroglycerin companies, 1879-1954), including: (1) Silver-gilt medal captioned "The Nobel laureate(s) in literature/ the Swedish Academy/ Artist. Eric Lindberg, 1901", medal 27mm. in diameter, overall frame size 330 x 270mm .(2) 39 vol. on nytroglycerin, explosives and related science, in English, Swedish or German and with the bookplate of Nitroglycerin Aktiebolaget or of Nauckhoff, one signed by him and another signed by his father, pencilled company references in some vol., contemporary half or quarter calf gilt, others in uniform red cloth or original bindings, 8vo, mostly early twentieth century (3) display group of mounted dynamite fuses and detonators, with identifying printed captions in Swedish, framed and glazed, display case size 415 x 358mm (4) Electrotype relief portrait of Nobel, signed 'K. O. Broady' on the plate, printed label on reverse ('K. Fintlings, Elektrogalvaniska Fabrik, Luntmakaregatan 42, Stockholm'), framed, overall 250 x 205mm., v.s., v.d. (qty).
