Description
A Greek bronze figure of a humped bull, c. 4th - 2nd Century BC, in stocky but naturalistic style, with short horns and tail draped over rump. H: 2 1/10 in (5.4cm), L: 2 in (5.1cm). Some losses, nice green-brown patina. Mounted on custom base. Ex Estate of Hope N. Efron, Washington DC. Acquired at the antique shop, Hilton Hotel, Istanbul on December 8, 1963. Efron worked as an economist at the Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics. She received special commendations for her volunteer work with the American Councils for International Education and Youth for Understanding.
