19th century BC. A ceramic cone with vertical bands of cuneiform text reading 'En-lil - ba-ni' for Enlil-B?ni, king of Isin (middle chronology: 1860-1837 BC). 205 grams, 11cm (4 1/4"). Property of a North London collector; acquired in the 1970s. The reign of Enlil-B?ni extended from 1798 BC-1775 BC by the short chronology or 1860-1837 BC by the middle chronology. He was the 10th king of the 1st Dynasty of Isin and reigned for 24 years. Enlil-B?ni is known for his building projects, such as the restoration of the walls of Isin, which he recorded on commemorative cones.
