Description
Late Period, 664-332 BC. An olive-green glazed composition amuletic pendant of Nephthys with dorsal pillar and rectangular base, pierced for suspension. 3.68 grams, 38mm (1 1/2"). Property of a West London gentleman; acquired by his grandfather before 1970, thence by descent. Nepthys is the sister of Isis and Osiris and wife of the god Seth. She is particularly connected to the protection of the dead and is found on coffins and tomb paintings, as well as small amulets, such as this one, that were placed between the bandages of the mummified body.
