Description
Jules Didier (French, 1831-1892). "Woman Leading Cattle", oil on canvas, signed lower left. Well painted pastoral scene depicting a small herd of cattle with calf at center meandering down a wide dirt road lead at right by a single female figure wearing blue skirted dress and holding staff in right hand, the right edge of the dirt path crumbling down into a calm river or lake banked at back by dense grasses and with tall and full green trees to background, the left edge of the path bordered by a low white structure with pitched thatch roof and a second taller dark structure to its rear, the whole scene set below blue sky with darkened lofty clouds. Framed approximately 24.75" x 34.5", unframed approximately 16" x 25.75".
