Debuting in 1955, the original Ingenieur’s exterior design was very different than the watch know today, but its core mission has always remained the same: to shield the movement from the increasing magnetic fields in our modern electronic world.

Targeted towards professions such as doctors, engineers, and technicians, the Ingenieur was created as a pure tool watch and the advertisements of the time were geared to professions who could benefit from its anti-magnetic properties.

1976 marked a turning point for the Ingenieur, as the famous Gérald Genta, who penned such watches as the Patek Philippe Nautilus and Audemars Piguet Royal Oak was asked to redesign the case creating a design, which after 40 years, is still thoroughly modern.

This example, Ref. IW323904 is the closest ancestor to the original Ref. 1832: both models are made out of steel, have the same 40mm diameter yet thin case, and have super anti-magnetic properties.

The watch case diameter is 40mm and 10mm in height. The bracelet length is 19cm. Timepiece is in mint condition with minimal shelf wear. During in-house testing the watch was fully functional. Overhaul is recommended at the buyer’s expense. Long-term precision and regularity cannot be guaranteed.
