Description
"M in Wreath" #47 Description: You are viewing a seldom-seen Antique Nippon Letter Holder featuring the Frederic Remington painting "Coming to the Call". "Coming to the Call" was published as a full-color double page for the August 19, 1905 Collier's' Weekly spread. The painting shows an American Indian at dusk riding in a canoe who is hunting a deer. This design featured on Nippon varies little from the original painting. It's in the Book: This painting can be found in Joan Van Patten's ABC's of Collecting Nippon, page 112. Size: 6 inches across and 4 1/2 inches tall. Condition: Outstanding; remember that this piece is over 100 years old. There appears to be a small crack at the base of the left handle, facing the letter holder. The next-to-last picture is a close up of the area. The pictures are an accurate representation of this piece, so please take a close look. Mark/Backstamp: "M in Wreath", #47, circa 1911. The actual mark on the letter holder is seen in the last picture.
