Description
American, circa 1970s. Bruce Burdick work station desk for Herman Miller, the ten-foot polished aluminum beam mounted to the top and bottom with 12 attachments: 5 magazine or book racks; 2 hanging files with 2 drawers each (one deep for files); rectangular book rest or shelf; 3 rectangular file/paper trays; 1 small swiveling rectangular tray or stand. Table is comprised of a centralized rectangular glass top, over half an inch thick with removable black writing surface, flanked to one side by a black laminate semi elliptical work space. Beam and base assembly made of polished aluminum with steel columns painted black. Each base with three splayed and streamlined legs. Approximate size overall height 29", width 120", depth 35.75". Glass desk top measures approximately 60" wide with a 35.75" depth. Provenance: From the Estate of Mr. Charles Raymond of Atlanta, Georgia.
Condition
Chrome and black elements on base with light surface scratches and oxidation commensurate with age and use. Small minor chip on front right curved glass top. Missing black cap covers on end of I-beam support (remnants of black cover on left). Remnant of adhesive on columnar support on left of desk--would likely benefit from light professional cleaning. Minor light non-distracting surface scratches throughout from light use. No other signs of damage, loss or repair.
