Item Details
Description
South America, mostly likely Peru, ca. 1850. Antique silver drinking vessel made of melted Spanish silver coins, minted from silver mined in the Spanish colonies. It features lovely engraving/hand chasing and an applied handle. Octagonal base transitions into circular at rim, incised with floral scenes at the midsection, looping handle decorated with two zoomorphic heads and large floral element. Size: 4"H; silver weight is 207.5 grams, 7.32 troy ounces.

Provenance: Ex-private Denver, CO collection, given as a gift to current owner's father by the Shah of Iran in 1970.
