Description
An Edwardian 9ct gold ruby and split-pearl brooch. The circular-shape ruby and split-pearl line, within an embossed and scalloped, bead accent surround. Hallmarks for Chester, 1907. Length 5.4cms. Weight 4.4gms.
Condition
Overall condition good. Minor surface scratches and minor discolouration in keeping with general wear and age. Base metal replacement pin. Soft solder repair, to the possible replacement clasp. Ruby light medium red, well saturated, with good to fair clarity and typical inclusions. Ruby in fair condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges. Split pearls well matched. Split pearls creamy-white, with fair lustre and obvious to fair surface blemishes. Split pearls in good condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges. The US prohibits the importation of items containing rubies or jadeite originating in Burma.
