Description
Annabelle E. Williams (American, 1900-) painted this landscape titled The Gracious Elm sometime around 1940. It appears to be a view from Vermont's North Kingdom, which is a popular destination for plein air artists. Mount Mansfield can be seen in the background. The area is known as the land of a thousand paintings. Annabelle E. Williams is known as a Cape Ann Massachusetts painter who produced many views of the New England countryside. She was represented in New York City by the Grand Central Art Galleries. In this painting, she is at her best. The brushwork is strong, the colors clean, and the whole scene is crisp with a permeating early winter light. The painting has been gently cleaned and freshly varnished. The frame is signed on the back by the artist, and the back of the canvas (not shown in the photos) also has her signature and the title written on it in pencil. The canvas size is 24" x 30", the frame size is 29" x 35" Item ID: 3163AUM Fixed Price Shipping & Insurance on this item =$87.00
