A beautiful strand of 70 graduated Mediterranean glass eye beads, c. 6th - 2nd Century BC, Phoenician or Carthaginian, globular in construction, many light-green and turquoise in color or with a medium orange-brown, mostly in narrow bands against a pale field, each with compound eyes in dark blue. Each is well preserved and quite rare thus! Sizes from 3mm to 17mm in width. Ex Hamdy Sakr collection, London; previously in the private collection of Alex Anckonie III, acquired during his time in the Navy in the 1960's - 1970's.
