Description
The AEAA is very pleased to present this great pair of antique German porcelain items including a properly marked Wheelock Prussia, jeweled & hand gilded ladies floral trinket box. This truly special stamp is the the often misunderstood but legitimate overprint Prussia. mark, with the logo registered in the U.S. on June 12, 1914, but apparently first used (according to R.H. Capers), on august 1, 1898! Undoubtedly, as the box is transfer finished, with only gilt hand painted accenting, this piece was certainly finished after 1904 in the 1910s. Many experts and collectors believe the under-mark below will be the classic Wreath & Star from the Suhl factory until ca. 1914. HOWEVER, NO COLLECTOR HAS YET MADE HIS FINDINGS KNOWN BY SCRAPING OFF THE WHEELOCK STAMP! Our mark is Capers designation RS3.4G 1, found on page #59 of Capers Notes on the Marks of Prussia. We also have a gorgeous courting scene and festooned medallions plate from the artisans of C. Tielsch, also in the 1910 range, and it carries a RARE & highly collectible Factory over-glaze decorating mark, along with the proper green Eagle White Ware, under-glaze stamp. We havent seen one of these in years! Both are in excellent condition, weighing 1# 2 oz. and the plate sits 8.25 inches in diameter, while the jeweled trinket box sits 2.27 inches tall.
