Description
Pre-Columbian, Peru, ca. 1200 to 1400 CE. Classic copper tumi used by the Inca as well as earlier cultures as a knife, often in sacrificial ceremonies. Oblong blade with thick handle folded into a suspension loop. Some remains of the fabric it was buried with still survives. Size: 4-5/8"H x 5-1/2"W.
Provenance: Ex-private McDonald collection, Houston, TX, acquired at auction before 2000.
