(ANDY WARHOL AND JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT)
ANDY WARHOL (1928-1987) and JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT (1960-1988) rare alternative design poster, 11" x 17 1/4", pictures Warhol landing a solid punch on his fellow artist's chin, a promotional poster for a joint exhibition of their painting at the Tony Shafrazi Gallery, Sep. 14, 1985. Original mailing folds, else fine condition. While later gallery exhibition posters showing the pair of artists side-by-side is in a similar pose is obtainable, this alternative version is rare: it was issued for a one-night, invitation-only event and only a comparable handful were printed. Warhol "discovered" Basquiat and the two soon began collaborating. Following Warhol's death the increasingly depressed Basquiat turned to heroin and died of an overdose.
