Important group of three publications issued by the "Herald" newspaper office in Shagnhai, China. Includes: "Shanghai Almanac for 1852, and Commercial Guide", about 200pp. 8vo., includes Christian calendar, meteorological notes, map of the city, oversize printings of treaties with Great Britain, trade regulations, notes on sights in the city, list of missionaries, etc.; "Shanghai Almanac for 1853, and Miscellany",, about 200pp. 8vo., similar to previous with land regulations, postage rates, etc.; and a partial almanac (or may be part of one of the previous), about 300pp., lists foreign residents at Shanghai, Canton, Ningpo, etc., "Notice of Seu Kwang-Ke", "Piracies, Riots, and Lynch Law at Ningpo", cultural notes, etc. Pages very brittle, a few chipped, still very good.
