AMERICAN SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) SOUTHERN SCENES / SKETCHES, pencil, watercolor, gouache, and ink on paper, comprising a pair of watercolor, ink, and gouache en grisaille views of Asheville, North Carolina and vicinity, one inscribed "West Asheville / Dec. 15, 1890" verso, and the other inscribed "View from Town Mountain / Dec. 19, 1890" verso; another example, executed in pencil, depicting Harper's Ferry, West Virginia, inscribed "Ohio & Chesapeake Canal near Harper's Ferry" at bottom edge; and the largest example, also executed in pencil, depicting a crowded park, inscribed "Druid Hill Park / Baltimore / 1865" at bottom right. No signature located. All unframed. Second half 19th century. 4 1/2" x 6 3/4" to 8 1/4" x 10 3/4" object.
Condition
Very good condition overall with minor toning, foxing, and wear to edges.
