This bronze designed as candle holder was issued since 1983 in three different sizes. The present copy is of medium size.

Condition:

The bronze is in very good condition with only three tiny traces of oxidation. The dimensions are 730.4 x 16 x 11 cm.

Lynn Russell Chadwick (1914-2003)

Lynn Russell Chadwick began his artistic education as architectural draftsman and he also created drawings, watercolors and oil paintings. In the forties, he began creating mobile sculptures of iron, which were to become the focus of his work. The mobiles by Alexander Calder served as a great inspiration for the artist. In the Second World War, he served as a marine. In 1952, he exhibited together with Eduardo Paolozzi, Bernard Meadows and Reg Butler at the Venice Biennale. There he was awarded the International Prize of Sculpture in 1956. He was honored with The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire and with the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres of France. Works of his are in the possession of international collections, such as the Cleveland Museum of Art in Ohio, MoMA New York, Centre Pompidou Paris, Peggy Guggenheim Collection Venice, Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea Rome, National galleries of Scotland, Victoria and Albert Museum and in Royal Academy of Arts London. A sculpture park was founded in his honor in Stroud/ Gloucestershire, England. (fea)
