Item Details
Description
A late Victorian silver trophy bowl, of circular footed form with shaped and scrolled rim above a plain girdle and fluted sides, having an oval cartouche to one side with presentation engraving and twin lion mask and drop handles. Hallmarked Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co (William Gibson & John Lawrence Langman), London 1892. Raised on an ebonised pedestal base applied with dated and named shield plaques, some hallmarked silver. Rim diameter of bowl measures 6 inches (15.2 cm), weight 11.77 ozt (366 grams).
Condition
The bowl displays general wear including surface scratches, marks and some small surface dints and bumps, all commensurate with the age and use. Rim is slightly misshapen. Slight impressions from the handles visible to the interior. Quite heavy tarnishing and it would benefit from a clean and polish. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
