Description
A George III silver presentation goblet, the tapering bowl having engraved fruiting border above presentation inscription and initialled cartouche, raised upon flared pedestal and hexagonal base with later added base plate. Hallmarked Duncan Urquhart & Naphtali Hart, London 1806. Height measures 5 7/8 inches (15 cm). 'This cup was obtained by Mr. David Mair as a prize for exhibiting to the Holderness Agricultural Society the best two years old Heifer on the 21st of Sept 1807.'
Condition
Overall good to fair condition with visible dent/crease to base and general light rubbing and tarnishing. Hallmarks clear however makers marks appears to have distortion and miss-stamped. A piece of silver has been fitted to the underside of the hexagonal foot, this is likely to be weighted and has been hallmarked with the lion passant and maker's mark 'AB'.
