Description
Pair of Southern Belle bookends having ivory crystalline glaze, marks include impressed Rookwood flame logo with Roman numeral "XLIV" for date 1944, shape #6252, no apparent artist's signature, approximate height of each 6 1/2" and a single bookend depicting Southern Belle with book, designed by William P. McDonald, having pink, brown and ivory crystalline glazes, marks include impressed Rookwood flame logo with Roman numeral "XXIX" for date 1929, shape #6037, process mark, signed on back with artist's mold monogram, approximate height 6 1/4" .
Condition
One of the ivory bookends has a large chip to top of fan, the other has light scattered peppering; the bookend by McDonald has a restoration to the neck and head, hairline crack to dress and plinth and scattered peppering.
