Description

Weight Driven Presentation Banjo Clock. 7 in. painted metal dial with black Roman hour numerals and typical blued hands; brass 8 day weight driven time only movement with brass pulley (stamped England), lead weight and long steel pendulum rod with brass covered bob. In a mahogany banjo style case with brass ball and eagle finial, brass door bezel with convex glass, pierced brass side arms, rope twist gilt carved frame around the throat glass with eagle shield & filigree reverse painted glass and the lower door with reverse painted tablet titled "Hull", which depicts the Naval engagement between the USS Constitution and the HMS Guerriere; case has a gilt carved presentation bracket with turned spherical mounts. In good overall condition, has good original tablets, an old enhanced original finish, movement and dial are replaced and has some flaking to the gilt on the lower bracket, dial holes are filled and original location was used, dial has one extra hole not used in the case. 42 in. high x 10.5 in. wide x 3.5 in. deep.
