Description
An attractive Khmer sandstone head of a male temple deity, Cambodia, 12th - 13th century. Ankor Wat period. Facial features expressive with wide nose, smiling lips, thick eye brows and a long, narrow moustache. The headdress is quite elaborate with a stupa-type device at the center with multiple layers. H: 9 in (23 cm). Some light abraision and thick deposits. Mounted on a custom base. From an old Los Angeles collection, acquired in the 1950's.
