Table Holdout Device. American, ca. 1900. Fine bench-made brass device that allows the operator to secretly add cards to his hand without suspicion. Lever-activated mechanism incorporated into a substantial and professionally-manufactured brass housing, which uses pulley-driven cord and springs to eject cards from a locking flap. When built in to a card table, the mechanism and its housing is concealed under the green baize top. Requires restringing and adjustment. A re-setting tool and instructional video describing and displaying the mechanics of the device is included. 8 ½ x 5 x 3”. Possibly unique.
