A GOOD QUALITY 19TH CENTURY CHINESE CANTON IVORY & PAINTED PAPER FAN, together with its original fitted lacquer box, the fourteen thin inner sticks carved and pierced in low relief, the guard sticks well carved with profuse detailed foliage and scenes of diminutive figures in terrace settings, the paper mount painted with detailed scenes of figures in terrace settings, the faces of the figures formed from onlaid painted ivory, the underside of the lacquered box cover well painted in vivid colours with a figural garden scene, the lacquer box 13.5in x 3in x 2.3in high, the fan approx. 20.25in wide when opened & 11in long when closed to end of guard sticks.
