Gino Sarfatti (1912-1984)
Gino Sarfatti studied Aerospace Engineering at the University of Genoa. He interrupted his studies for financial reasons and worked as a glassware salesman in Milan. From 1939, he worked in the lighting technology and founded the company ‘Arteluce’. After the Second World War, he became apparent with the use of unusual materials for the construction of lamps. From the fifties, he used Perspex and halogen lamps. The collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York owns Sarfatti’s ceiling lamp ‘1063’, dated 1954. (cko)
