Description
The AEAA is exceptionally proud to present this Scarce & valuable, 1959 Fenton 10 inch collar base & double crimped rim bowl, in their exceptionally collectible Plum Opalescent Hobnail glass color. The deep purple Plum was accented with Opalescent hobs and rim. The Fenton Plum formula was actually a heat sensitive glass that was produced by pressing together Fentons Colloidal Gold Cranberry + Ruby glass in the molds. Our example + the footed bowl were the largest of the initial 1959 Plum line both measuring 10 inches in diameter. Our centerpiece is Fenton Ware #3924-PO, sitting 10 x 10 x 4.25 inches tall and weighs. This deep centerpiece bowl has excellent Opalescence and is in wonderful condition. Our collar double crimped mold bowl was actually discontinued in 1961, making the form even Scarcer!Fenton production of Plum Opalescent Hobnail glass only lasted from 1959-1963. A scant (19) total items were available, with 12 introduced in July 1959, with 5 added in 1960, and the final 2 items in 1961, to replace the discontinued 9 inch bowl & vase, the candy jar, candle holders, and the 12 oz syrup jug. By January 1963, the entire line was discontinued. *** A short run of Plum Opalescent Hobnail pieces was produced for LeVay Distributing Co. of Illinois, BUT, none of them matched the original stable. These will also be marked with the 1980s Fenton oval stamp + 8. *** Weight: 2# 8oz - Measurements: 10 x 10 x 4.25
