Description

highly detailed model made of various materials including painted wood, nickel plated brass castings and leather; Detailed furnishings include hoses with brass couplings - one with strainer; plated pump pressure cylinder with rotating and elevating water gun is in painted wood housing with removable sides decorated with colorful Victorian era paper 'scraps" - one of a lady and the other of George Washington; The central water barrel is covered in finely stitched stained leather work 'Clinton 41'. The piece was consigned by the family of Edgar Lasak, to whom the construction has been attributed. Along with the model are two framed fire company membership certificates issued to Mr. Lasak. The one dated 1847 depicts, below the inscription, a fire pumper identical to this model. The pumper is offered with the stained wood and period glass display case which housed this family treasure for many years.
