Description
A woven kashmir shawl, Indian, circa 1860, with black central quatrefoil within green and blue compartments, with three long lobes to each side each enclosing perching peacocks, scrolling botehs and quatrefoil roundels, embroidered harlequin guard bands, 338 by 144cm
Condition
central plain black wool quatrefoil is replaced, very finely woven/high quality weave. Embroidered harlequin borders – the black areas have been moth attacked. 2 black tendrils where they meet the central palmette have thinning in the weave. There is the odd scattered pinhead sized hole in the central field but these are hard to detect and it is generally good.
