Description
The Buddhism deity Dharmapala (Protector of Dharma) is portrayed in his ferocious form with bulging eyes, bare fangs and orange hair flowing upwards, with his typical attributes and implements: a crown of five skulls, jewel ornaments, a skull tiara, a ritual sword in primary hand, astriding in alidhasana on a prostrate figure atop a lotus platform. Circa mid-Qing era, late 18th to early 19th century.
