Item Details
Description
We are exceptionally proud to showcase this magnificent ca. 1895-1910 Bohemian blown Sang de Boeuf (ox blood red) Custard glass bride's bowl, from the renowned Graf Harrach glass house. This example is a giant 12 x 12 x 4" high, with the standard Bohemian collar base, and the hand painted enamels exclusively in the classic heavy golden orange with Ivory blossoms also being traditional Bohemian and not English. The highly desirable, incredibly deep & rich graduating Sang de Boeuf band with beaded internal edges and a narrow crystal applied cap + the signature M CRIMP, absolutely identify this Bohemian treasure as Harrach. *** For those devotes of Victorian period blown glass; although Stevens & Williams also used an M Crimp, the finish characteristics and form preclude this from being S & W. The base, form, and enameling, are definitely not cut from the Mt.Washington cloth either, and the Uranium Oxide mixture (glowing a vibrant green) differs from Mt. Washington formulas as well. Lastly, true Harrach comparables to our excellent condition antique, can be found on display at the Glass Museum Passau. This bride's bowl is a RARE and valuable antique, and can be matched to a first class silver plate basket, or simply displayed as a stand alone. Research consulted: Glass Museum Passau, European Glassware 1650 to 1950, Guide to the Museum / by Georg Holtl; Collectible Bohemian Glass 1880-1940, and Collectible Bohemian Glass Vol. II 1915-1945 / both by Robert & Deborah Truitt; Bohemian Glass 1400-1989 / by Sylva Petrova and Jean-Luc Olivie (photos by Gabriel Urbanek); Art Glass Nouveau and Carved & Decorated European Art Glass / both by Ray & Lee Grover; Collectible Victorian, Edwardian & Vintage Art Glass, Porcelain, Lampworks & Pottery / by John & Candice Scherz. The weight of the bowl for shipping is 2.5 pds. with shipping box at 14 x 14 x 8".
