Description
S-30 Luftwaffe officer items: (1) Officer's peaked cap with a black band, silver bullion wire piping, chin cord and relief bullion eagle/swastika and winged wreath/rosette. Vulcan type visor. "EREL" marked leather sweatband shows wear. Green silk lining with a "...Luftwaffe... EREL..." marked moisture shield. Several moth spots on top. Cap has a nice saddle shape. (2) Silver metal Luftwaffe pinback breast eagle. (3) Officer's peaked cap metal "droop-tail" eagle/swastika and winged wreath. With the original April 29 1945 letter explaining the circumstance near Bad Aibling where a Luftwaffe Colonel on Kesseling's staff surrendered and as a reward for protecting him, the Colonel opened his suitcase and gave Albro "...his spare cap, metal wing device for a cap and two metal eagles...I think his name was Kucher or Kasler, not sure". (Because of the language difference and pronunciation, it's possible that this was Colonel Rudolf Koester who served on the General's staff in 1945.) Also with a surrender paper listing a German cap and copy photo of Robert Albro. II
