Though not exactly on model when compared to the way that the monsters appeared in the Universal monster films, AHI's 8" action figures, produced in the 1970s, are highly sought-after by action figure collectors. Originally Mego had a "Mad Monsters" series that offered four monsters in their product line, but because they did not offer a representation of the Creature from the Black Lagoon, Azrak/AHI tried to capitalize by producing a series of their own. Azrak/AHI also attempted to improve on the Mego Monsters design, but were not much closer in accuracy.
