Customs agents. This item is authentic cloisonné. Brass wires were hand bent to form the entire design and then fused onto a copper body by heat. Each compartment of the design was then filled with the desired color of paint, fired in a kiln and then sanded by hand. Because of the paint shrinking when fired in the kiln, this process had to be repeated several times before the piece was finally polished by hand.
