Newsome for Bonniksen. A Rare 18ct Yellow Gold Kew A Karrusel Keyless Lever Open Face Pocket Watch C1896.
Dial: The white enamel dial with unusual Gothic Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds dial at six oclock and original blues steel spade hands.
Case: The heavy gold case with monogramed case back and plain inner cover. The cases are all English Hallmarked for 1896 with the case maker stamp for Robert John Pike and Isaac Jabez Theo Newsome, both case makers working in Coventry.
Movement: The movement is is a three quarter plate keyless lever 52 minute Karrusel with fast slow regulation beautifully engraved plate which is numbered. The movement is signed under the dial Newsome.
This superb example of a Karrusel pocket watch was sent to the Kew Observatory for trials by Newsome on behalf of the inventor of the Karrusel Boniksen. It achieved a Grade A Rating for excellence. We are fortunate to have the records from Kew for this particular watch. It would make a fine addition to ones collection.
