Item Details

Description

A late 19th century silver import articulated fish box, with scale detailing and hinge opening head set with red garnet eyes. Hallmarked with the Foreign Mark, John George Smith, London 1899, and Hanau pseudo-marks for B. Neresheimer & Sohne. Maximum length 18cm, gross weight 5.76ozt (179.2g).

Condition Report:

Displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with age.
Heavier tarnishing to some parts, and residues of dried polish.
With some minor surface nicks and dints, and pitting type marks to some areas.
Surface wear and rubbing to areas of the decoration, causing some slight loss of detail or definition.
Hinges to head are a little loose; it does close however not very securely as it will open again very easily.
London hallmarks located to head and inner rim and Hanau marks located to the tail, these all legible with some minor rubbing.
Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
