Description
A George V silver Art Nouveau pedestal bowl, having sinuous foliate embossing to central body, with conforming, pieced design to quatrefoil base. Hallmarked Elkington & Co Ltd., Birmingham 1919. Height 14.7cm, weight 19.2ozt (599.4g).
Condition Report:- Item shows general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing.
- Gauge to upper bowl is quite thin.
- Upper section of the bowl, towards rim, is very bumpy and bashed, with a few significant creases.
- Rim is misshapen.
- Seam line is visible to mid-interior bowl.
- Interior shows some deep, vertical scratches below rim. Texture of silver surrounding these scratches appears almost planished.
- There is a deep, asymmetric bash to lower body, as well as some bumpy textures surrounding embossed detail.
- There is a compression to the top of one pierced foliate detail to base.
- There is a bash to central, interior bowl.
- Piercing appears nibbled and uneven, but only when inspected to underside of base.
- Maker's mark is partially rubbed, otherwise hallmarks are clear and legible.
