Description
The Michelin Tire Company was started by Andre and Edouard Michelin in 1892 when they obtained a patent for a pneumatic bicycle tire. Their products were promoted as the best on the market and the adopted the use of the "Bibendum" figure as their Michelin Man. This image was created to show that the Michelin bicycle tire was "le meilleur - le moins cher"; the best and the least expensive.
The poster was printed with a blank area in beige at the bottom. The text in black ("Henri Garand Cycles - Manthelan") was added to let the public know where to purchase the tires. The artist was O'Galop, who created many posters for Michelin and yet regrettably little is known about.
This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
