爐一對取整塊優質碧玉精工雕製，堅實溫潤，色澤濃郁蒼雅，表面散布墨綠斑點，寶 光內蘊。器仿商周青銅獸面紋鼎，分蓋及爐上下兩部分，皆呈等距六瓣花式，子母口 內扣相合。蓋呈覆碗貌，平頂，頂上置蓮蓬為鈕，鈕外包覆仰蓮瓣紋，花心為結籽蓮 蓬。蓋面及爐腹亦隨花形開光，開光內淺浮雕成獸面紋，紋飾形成凹凸有致的視覺反 差效果，兩相對應，產生搶眼藝術氣息。

爐呈三足鼎式，平口，口沿兩側出朝冠耳，頸略束，鬲形腹，下承三圓柱高足。爐腹 兩側飾以朝冠耳，下飾獸首，上部方闊挺秀，光素無紋，且雙耳內側又刻意施以打 窪，呈現出柔和優雅線條。三足較高，上部飾俯仰蓮瓣，加強裝飾效果，其下為光素 圓柱，彰顯端莊肅穆。清宮舊藏，北京故宮博物院庋藏清〈碧玉朝冠耳三足爐〉（圖 一），造型及技法與本對爐極為相似，可作比對參考。本對爐配有雙層三如意造型的 黃楊木座，面飾獸面紋與玉爐相似，工藝繁巧，絢麗豪華，像影子般承托起皇家書房 常備之物，也象徵高高在上之皇權，實為難得。

清代宮廷藝術摹古，內務府造辦處承製各類仿古器皿，可體現為三類，一是在形制上 仿古彝器，即以《宣和博古圖錄》的青銅器為藍本進行仿古，其占仿古器大半；二是 在形制和紋飾上加以模仿和創新；三是在風格意蘊上仿古，器形和紋飾雖多有增減， 但著重仿其神韻。細審本對爐，為第一類仿古之器，藍本取自《欽定四庫全書－重 修宣和博古圖》商〈若癸鼎〉圖譜。全器玉材碩大，仿古形制考究並加以變 化，造型圓潤莊重，紋飾規整，布局對稱，既穆古風又富華麗姿態，另碧玉之墨綠色 澤自然呈現出青銅鏽斑效果，尤顯尊貴。
