A pair of maiolica armorial albarelli, 17th century, Italian, each waisted body painted with a cartouche inscribed 'ELL ALESALNDRINO' and 'VNGVENTO EGIZZIACO' and an armorial crest below, within two bands of densely applied grotesques and foliate scrolls in blue, green and yellow, 13cm wide 20cm high (2) Provenance: The Collection of Hermann Baer (1898-1977); thence by descent to the present owner. For a similarly decorated example, see Victoria & Albert Museum, accession number C.36-1975.
