1757 Philadelphia "Custom-House" Official Port Entry Form
October 27, 1757-Dated French and Indian War Period, Partly-Printed Document, "Custom-House", at Philadelphia, Choice Very Fine.
This scarce "Custom-House" Port Entry Document measures about 8.5" x 6.25", 1 page, clean bold typeset on laid period paper. It certifies that, in part: "Edward Butler hath this Day made an Entry for Five Hundred & three Barrels of Flour. One thousand & Ninety Bush of Corn. Twenty Tons of Bar Iron in the Sloop Seaflower whereof to the said Edward Butler is Master for the Port of Piscataway... For the due Landing whereof in the said Port of Piscataway ... Security is taken. - (Signed) "Abraham Taylor Collr". Its original Paper and Wax Custom-House Embossed Seal is still fully present at upper left. Certainly, this is a rare original 1757 Colonial "Customs" document.
