North America, United States, California, ca. 1950s CE. An incredible lifesize seated figure known as "Navajo Joe" who wears several necklaces, a beaded chest piece, a turquoise-lined top hat, and leather boots. The veristic definition of the facial features and its expression are rather impressive, with flowing facial wrinkles, lip positioning, synthetic eyes, and a horsehair coiffure, all working together to create a nearly animated figure. This was probably used as a prop at a tourist attraction or trading post style shop. Size (seated on chair & w/ hat): 31" L x 20" W x 53" H (78.7 cm x 50.8 cm x 134.6 cm)
